Nova Nonogram — Nonogram Puzzle

HOW TO PLAY

  1. Press Start Puzzles to load the first 5×5 grid with its row and column number clues.
  2. Each clue lists the run lengths of filled squares in that line, in order — so a row clue of 2 1 means a run of two, a gap, then a single.
  3. Tap a square to fill it, or switch to Mark mode to flag squares you know stay empty with an ✕.
  4. Fill exactly the squares the clues describe and the picture solves instantly, loading the next puzzle until the timer ends.

TIPS & STRATEGY

  • A clue equal to or near the grid width fills almost the whole line. A row clue of 5 on a 5-wide grid fills every square, which instantly pins five columns for you.
  • Cross-reference rows against columns. Once a row forces a square to be filled, that column's clue often resolves another square — alternate between the two directions instead of guessing.
  • Use Mark mode to flag the squares you've proven empty. Visually ruling cells out keeps you from re-checking the same dead ends and makes the remaining runs obvious.
  • The grid auto-solves the instant the filled squares match the hidden picture, so you never press a submit button — but a single extra filled square keeps it unsolved, so clear stray fills before hunting for the last cell.

ABOUT

Nova Nonogram is a classic nonogram — also known as Picross or a griddler — rebuilt for quick browser sessions. Every puzzle hides a small pixel picture you reveal by deduction: the numbers beside each row and column tell you how the filled squares are grouped, and only one arrangement fits all of them at once. Each shipped grid is verified to have exactly one solution, your score is how many you solve before time runs out, and your best run is saved on your device with a spot on the global TOP 20.

FAQ

How do you play Nova Nonogram?
Read the numbers along the top and left of the grid, which describe the runs of filled squares in each column and row. Tap squares to fill them so every row and column matches its clue, and the hidden picture completes automatically.
What is a nonogram?
A nonogram — also called Picross, a griddler, or a paint-by-numbers puzzle — is a logic puzzle where number clues describe how filled cells are grouped in each row and column. You deduce the single picture that satisfies every clue at once, with no guessing required.
How is my score calculated?
Your score is the number of nonograms you fully solve before the timer ends. Each completed picture is worth one point, so the leaderboard ranks the runs that solved the most grids.
What do the ✕ marks do?
Marks are an optional aid. Switching to Mark mode lets you flag squares you've worked out must stay empty, which helps you track your deductions, but only the filled squares are checked against the solution.
Is Nova Nonogram free to play?
Yes. Nova Nonogram is free in your browser with no install and no signup, and your best score is saved locally on your device.
