Lights Out — Lights Out Game

HOW TO PLAY

  1. Tap any tile to start. The timer begins on your first move.
  2. Each tap flips that tile and its four neighbors (up, down, left, right).
  3. Goal: turn every light off on the 5×5 board.
  4. Finish with the shortest time possible. Fewer moves usually means a faster clear.

TIPS & STRATEGY

  • Every tap flips a plus-shaped cross — the tile itself plus its up, down, left, and right neighbors — so each press changes five lights at once (fewer at the edges and corners).
  • Tapping the same tile twice cancels out and just wastes moves, so treat each tile as something you press either zero or one time.
  • Use the 'chase the lights' method: starting from the top row, tap the tile directly below any lit light to push all the on-lights downward, and clean up whatever pattern is left in the bottom row.
  • Time and moves are both shown and lower time wins, so think the solution through before tapping rather than poking tiles at random and hoping the board clears.

ABOUT

Lights Out is a classic logic puzzle. Because each move affects multiple tiles, you need to think a few steps ahead instead of reacting quickly. Every puzzle is generated from a solvable state, your best time is saved on your device, and the fastest clears make the global TOP 20 leaderboard.

FAQ

How do you play Lights Out?
Tap any tile to start the timer, and each tap flips that tile plus its four orthogonal neighbors between on and off. Your goal is to turn every light off on the 5x5 board.
What makes the Lights Out Game tricky?
Because a single tap changes up to five lights at once, fixing one area often lights up another, so you can't just switch off lights one by one. It's a logic puzzle that rewards thinking a few moves ahead.
How does scoring work and when does a round end?
The timer starts on your first tap and stops the moment every light is off, while your move count is tracked too. A lower time is better, and your fastest clear is what reaches the leaderboard.
Is every Lights Out board solvable?
Yes. Each puzzle is built by toggling a solved (all-off) board several times, so there is always a sequence of taps that turns every light back off.
Is Lights Out free to play?
Yes, it's completely free and runs right in your browser with no install and no signup. Your best time is saved on your device.
